Just visit our "Recommended Brokers" page and download the new account forms
Once you've filled out the forms, just send them in to the brokerage firm. It usually takes about two days to activate your new account once the brokerage firm has received your forms.
There are three main ways to get commodity charts: 1) Internet; 2) Download prices into a computer program; and 3) Subscribe to a paper charting service.
1- INTERNET - You can get up to the minute prices and charts from our FuturesView.com charts link. This is a very good site that gives the options of enlarging the chart, and/or adding key technical analysis tools. If that doesn't do it for you, try some of the sites recommended on our links page.
2 - DOWNLOADABLE CHARTING PROGRAMS - This programs come from software that you usually will purchase from some service. Then, at the end of each day, you will contact the service and download via computer the day's prices into your software program. These types of programs usually result in the most usable types of charts. They are clearer and can be manipulated to depict several different types of technical studies.
3 - PAPER CHARTING SERVICES - These charts are sent to you in the mail, usually coming every one to two weeks. They are compiled in a "magazine format" and will carry from two to four months of each commodity contract. Some reliable paper charting services that we would recommend are:
Commodity Price Charts 1-800-221-4352 Commodity Trend Service 1-800-331-1069
Commodity Perspective 1-800-621-5271

Every brokerage firm has their own rates. It is usually a good idea to check around and compare before opening an account so you get a feel for what's out there. But typically, a good "full-service" round-turn commission rate will be from $20-$45.
The brokerage firm you trade through will usually provide you with a "Trading Calendar" that includes all the contract expiration days. If you don't have an open trading account yet, you can contact our recommended brokers and ask for a complimentary annual calendar.

Also, most of FuturesView.com's recommended newsletters contain fundamental updates.
These are a few good places to learn about relevant market fundamentals. Just keep in mind, that in many cases, reported fundamental "items" may already be factored into a market's price.
