 Start with a basic book or course on futures trading.  Find out as much as you can  about this intriguing investment vehicle before you put your hard earned money on the line.

 You don't need anything extraordinary, but a good basic strategy seminar or workshop will offer you a "hands on" opportunity to learn about trading. 
 

Newsletters

 There are many excellent trading newsletters available today.  Try out several through free trials and samples.    Newsletters are often your best source for current technical and fundamental insight.

Contract Specs

 Trading months, market hours, point values, contract sizes, etc.  These are important facts that a trader needs before entering any market.

Brokerage Firm

 Look for a firm that has been around a long time and has a good reputation.  A firm that offers both discount and full-service features is best.
